Yeah, mp3 and aac are “good,” but because they’re lossy, they tend to have “that sound.” (and I’m sure everyone who’s heard an mp3 has heard “that sound” before.) Why can’t we get players that support lossless audio? FLAC? Wavpack? Apple Lossless? WMA9 Lossless? The codecs are out there, people just don’t seem to know or care. As far as most people are concerned, mp3 is the same as digital music.
This is cute, but I always hated the ipod. I don’t blindly support MS or any other company, but I dislike mp3 players in general and always hated the name to boot. I was looking into mp3 players briefly, but the ipod was the last one I would have bought- least of all that awful “shuffle” thing. Anyway, I’ll stick to CDs, until there’s a convenient lossless solution. I won’t buy inferior quality mp3s when I can buy a CD with packaging and full quality and rip them myself.
