iiiiiccccc, maybe that is why. She was a perfectionist….anything less than perfect would incur her wrath. I read that she threw water on her maid because the temperature wasn’t right – LOL and the maid threw it right back!!!
Wow she is such a talent. Each line she delivers is quite something. Tallulah Bankhead ‘s talent should far outshine her reputation for debautchery late in life.
@MrTomleeds Tallu drank a lot, but not on while working, never. She was too much of a professional for it. Lucille Ball didn’t particularly like her though. Nor did she like Joan Crawford or Bette Davis… so yeah.
Miss Bankhead was a great talent, but missed out on being Scarlett because of her drinking and her bizarre lifestyle. Sadly Miss Bankhead was reduced to a shell of her former self in later life. I definitely think she should have won the Oscar for Lifeboat. It is sad that she destroyed herself with drugs and alcohol. I have see the place where Miss Bankhead was born. It is now a law office!! Sheesh!!
we need more actress like Tallulah Bankhead and lucy.
i mean its so hard to find show like this now days
and really really hard find movies like Tallulah Bankhead made.
:]
The half hour I LOVE LUCY show ended in 1957, and continued into an hour format with celebrity guest stars as part of an omnibus series called DESILU PLAYHOUSE. These “specials” aired every two months for a total of 13 episodes shown from 1957 to 1960.
When rerun in summers alone they were shown as THE LUCY-DESI COMEDY HOUR, which is how they are known today. I saw the very last first run show in April, 1960. The following day the Ball-Arnaz divorce was in the papers.
DX WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
if i was born i would of made them go to a marriage counselor x3 and get thingzz fixxed
no their really was not difference this show ensued after i love lucy becuase the show ended but was still very popular. however, by the time the final episode ended of the lucy- desi comedy hr..lucy and desi were not even speaking.
i love when lucy says “i bet shes a lady junk dealer” @ 3:59 sooooo funny!!!! lol & ethel @ 4:16 ” um um i think i hear fred calling me yup yup its fred i’ll be right there fred!!!!!” lol lol
You might not believe me but I’m related to Tallulah Bankhead- the reason I looked her up. I remembered this episode from watching it on Nick at Night when I was younger, but I didn’t know who she was then or that we’re related. We all still live in Alabama, but we’ve spread a little- in Huntsville, Decatur, Courtland, Birmingham and Selma.
This is my absolute favorite of the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour shows. Tallulah’s expressions are priceless. I read the book “Tallulah, Darling” and it was fantastic. Tallulah was eccentric, opinionated, witty and sharp. Another excellent read is “The Life Story of Vivian Vance”. Very moving story about a much loved actress.

true, even though she was extremely talented, but true for sure.

@MrTomleeds Lucy could be an uptight, controlling beeyotch.

She said it herself and it was then quoted in biographies (also the more worthy ones) on the stars I mentioned earlier.

How do you know she didn’t like them?
One of the guest stars, Barbara Eden said Lucy was so lovely. She even sat down and remade the dress for her.
